Widespread frost and freeze expected across North Texas Friday Night

Dallas/Fort Worth/North Texas Forecast Summary [Wednesday 10/25]

➤ As I discussed in my previous DFW forecast posted on Monday, the coldest air so far this season will overspread North Texas on Friday.

➤ Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to near 90º tomorrow (Thursday, October 26) thanks to downslope/compressional warming with southwest winds.

➤ The cold front will move through North Texas late tomorrow night/early Friday morning. The official high on Friday will occur at midnight, then fall rapidly behind the front. Temperatures should be in the 40s by sunrise Friday, with gusty north winds.

➤ With overcast and strong cold advection on Friday, I expect temperatures to stay in the 40s to lower 50s all day.

➤ I am forecasting widespread frost and a freeze for much of North Texas Friday night.  Frost advisories and freeze warnings may eventually be warranted.

Take precautions to protect sensitive vegetation.
